Hallo,
I have just completed a "pre-release" of SolidDoc. SolidDoc was originally intended to be a benchmarking tool, but with the current discussion about what might cause SolidWorks to crash frequently on one PC while it's said to be rock solid on an other, I added a detailed environment scan to it.
The plan is to fill a public database with all sorts of details about your PC while you can rate how stable SolidWorks runs - all with only a few clicks. When enough data is entered, we should be able to find problematic drivers or hardware combinations. You can submit completely anonymous, or show your email address. You also have full control over what's submitted, the data is presented to you in a html form before submission.
Now I need your help:
First, I'd like to ask everybody who thinks either his system runs SolidWorks very stable or very unstable to download SolidDoc and run it. It's a 130k download and does not need to be installed (if you have VB runtime and WMI already installed).
Second, I haven't had much time for this, I may have overlooked some system info which might be valuable to include. Pls. let me know what addl. data should be included.
You can download SolidDoc at: http://www.ecocom.com/eng/SolidDoc/soliddoc01.htm

Since it's a beta-version it may not work on all systems. If you have problems with it, pls. send me a message at: http://www.ecocom.com/phpBB/index.php
Pls. comment on additions or enhancements here. Thanks!
Thilo
