I have a stress-strain curve determined experimentally. I converted engineering to true stress and strains and effectively found the plastic strains and corresponding true stresses. I also imported them in the Multilinear kinematic hardening model starting from 0 strain in Ansys WB static structural. I later conducted a tensile test simulation. I have created remote point at the end surfaces and one remote point is given zero displacement and other with some displacement

I want to have the necking in the middle. But currently, I am getting deformation at two locations instead of one in the middle and it as shown in the figure.

Please help me how to solve this.

First of all, what happens if you continue the simulation close to the failure?

I had a similar project years ago and I was pretty confused when I faced the similar problem as you.

Talking about the geometric and material imperfections of real specimens, the thing is that the simulation doesn't take them into account. So I added a tiny notch at the position where I wanted to see the failure.

You can also try by shortening the length of narrowed region in the sample to avoid multiple development.
