Hello, My problems with WebEditor module started with upgrade from V12 to V14. In V12 everything (almost...) was OK, but after upgrading to V14 SP1 I couldn't connect to the database, obtaining the following messages: Message: Failed to get persistency storage reference. Reason: Failed to open database connection Details Details: Inner Exceptions: Failed to get persistency storage reference. Reason: Failed to open database connection Failed to open database connection SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Failed to get persistency storage reference. Reason: Failed to open database connection Failed to open database connection SQL Server does not exist or access denied. at SmarTeam.Std.SessionManagement.Persistency.Service.Client.PersistencyStorageClient.GetStorage() at SmarTeam.Std.SessionManagement.Persistency.Service.Client.PersistencyStorageClient.SmarTeam.Std.SessionManagement.Persistency.Service.Client.IPersistencyStorageClient.Remove(String nameSpace, String key) at SmarTeam.Std.Web.ObjectStorage.Remove(String key) at SmarTeam.Std.Web.LicenseManager.ClearAllLicenses() at SmarTeam.Std.Applications.WebEditor.Authentication.ConnectDB.HandleSmarTeamConnectionAndLicense(String lastDb) at SmarTeam.Std.Applications.WebEditor.Authentication.ConnectDB.DatabaseSelect1_DatabaseSelected(Object sender, DatabaseSelectEventArgs e) at SmarTeam.Std.Web.UI.WebControls.DatabaseSelect.OnDatabaseSelected(DatabaseSelectEventArgs e) at SmarTeam.Std.Web.UI.WebControls.DatabaseSelect.btnConnect_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton.OnClick(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.WebControls.LinkButton.System.Web.UI.IPostBackEventHandler.RaisePostBackEvent(String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(IPostBackEventHandler sourceControl, String eventArgument) at System.Web.UI.Page.RaisePostBackEvent(NameValueCollection postData) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain()
After upgrading to V14 SP5 after initial screen with DB selection I got the error message (see attached file WebEditor-V5R14SP5-Win2000_Server+IIS-error.jpg: Exception: System.Web.HttpException My configuration: Windows 2000 Server, IIS, MS SQL 2000, SmDemo database. Slightly desperate I've made an experiment: on another computer with "clear" Windows 2003 Server I installed from scratch SmarTeam V5R14 SP1 with pure SmDemo database. After Web Editor configuration the same error occurred (see beginning of this post). After upgrading to V5R14 SP5 I got the error (see attached file: WebEditor-V5R14SP5-Win2003_Server+IIS-error.jpg): "The service 'ObjectStore' cannot be initialized. No user is logged into the session." So I have come to a dead point :-( Jack Eine Antwort auf diesen Beitrag verfassen (mit Zitat/Zitat des Beitrags) IP |

Hello j_d, did you - define the database in the Database Connection Manager? - Define a database for authentication using the Authentication Manager? - provide the right level for the MS .Net Framework (1.1 SP1 is required) - check if the right core services server is defined in the file %WINDIR%\Microsoft .Net\Framework\1.1.4322\Config\machine.config on the server? (3 times at the end of the file) - try to connect to the DB inside the SMARTEAM Editor on the same machine?

Hello, > did you > - define the database in the Database Connection Manager? Yes. > - Define a database for authentication using the Authentication Manager? I suppose yes. Please see attached file Authentication_Manager-screen.jpg > - provide the right level for the MS .Net Framework (1.1 SP1 is > required) Yes. > - check if the right core services server is defined in the file > %WINDIR%\Microsoft .Net\Framework\1.1.4322\Config\machine.config on > the server? (3 times at the end of the file) This is my last line of this file: <smarteam><sessionManagement><client><url>tcp://127.0.0.1:5606/SessionManagement/Fuss.rem</url></client><systemConnections><add key="smarteam" value="SmarTeam.Std.SessionManagement.Connection.Providers.SmarTeamSystemConnection, SmarTeam.Std.SessionManagement.Connection.Providers, Version=5.13.5.4, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b4ecbcafd01b2516"/></systemConnections><persistency><url>tcp://127.0.0.1:5606/SessionManagement/PersistencyStorage.rem</url><providerTy pe>System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection, System.Data, Version=1.0.5000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089</providerType><connectionString>Password=SMARTEAM;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=SMARTEAM;Initial Catalog=SmDemo;Data Source=localhost</connectionString></persistency></sessionManagement><systemConfiguration><client><url>tcp://127.0.0.1:5607/ConfigurationService /Configuration.rem</url></client></systemConfiguration></smarteam></configuration> I have different "Password" and "User ID" for my database (I give them different when i.e. connect do the SmDemo by "Database Connection Manager"), but when I change it manually in this line the result is the same (after restarting). - try to connect to the DB inside the SMARTEAM Editor on the same machine? Yes. It is OK. What was stated above concerns my configuration with server working on Windows 2000 Server. I can't launch "Authentication Manager" on the server working on Windows 2003 (for test purposes) - in this case I always obtain error message (see attachement Authentication_Manager-launching_error-screen): "The Authentication Manager can only run on server which has the System Configuration Service installed on it" Jack

Hi, I've seen that you conifgure all to localhost and to 127.0.0.1. Maybe that SMARTEAM can't work with this information. I've never test it, but in our test enviroments we configure it all to the real IP or the real host name. And on our 2003 Server it works as well with V5R14 and SP5. Regards, Christian

Hello, I just got my first steps with the Web Editor yesterday when I´ve installed the applications with the installation guide and everything seems to going on correctly. But there is still something wrong. Szenario: - Win2003 Server (FDN, EDR and then WED installed) - IIS and Terminal Service installed - Oracle Database, configured for Web Editor - Licenses available (detected by the diagnostic tool) - SMARTEAM/Web directory shared for SmarTeam Server Application group - JRE installed - System Configuration Editor can be used without problems. Status Quo: - All Service started correctly - the login display appears in the browser, login with "joe" - After selecting the database "SmTest" the browser tries to open the page "Default.aspx" -> up to 500MB RAM will be used but nothing happens further (see first attachment) - Installing Service Pack 6 results in an error messages (see 2nd attachment) A few questions: - What meens the error messages of the ServicePack? - Is there anything to configure in the IIS not mentioned in the guide (Security, Root directory (default: c:\inetpub\wwwroot), methods of authentification)? - Is there anything to configure in the System Configuration Editor manuelly? - Are there any experiences with domain / local user (still I´m working with a local user and a computer in a domain) ? - I habe trouble to install the Web Viewer (try: 18000 (SP3). 18004 (SP6) and 18008): I got an error message just after file extraction (See attachment) - perhaps because of the terminal server?? --- I´m using R14 SP6 --- Thanks in advance! ------------------ Grüße,Christian Willmann --- Inoffizielle Pro/E-Hilfeseite http://PROE.CAD.de --- DENC AG http://www.denc.de Eine Antwort auf diesen Beitrag verfassen (mit Zitat/Zitat des Beitrags) IP |

Dear Christian, Because the latest Service Pack 7 of V14 is available so I installed it. I must say the things are getting better. I can log into database! I can see my SmartBox messages via Web Editor (see attachement: ST_V5R14_SP7-start.jpg)! Absolutely amazing! But any other command (for example displaying the list of the projects) leads to the error (see attachement: ST_V5R14_SP7-error.jpg) "Failed to get persistency storage reference. Reason: Failed to open database connection" I hope that they will fix everything in SP 11 :-| Jack Eine Antwort auf diesen Beitrag verfassen (mit Zitat/Zitat des Beitrags) IP |

Hi, I'm not shure, but I thing I've seen these error in the past. Take a look to the machine.config file and be sure that the 'smdemo' databse is defined as 'Initial Catalog'. --> also if the smdemo db isn't add on your system !! In an other test scenario we've problems like you with a not added workflow behavior, after add the behavior to the db correctly all works fine. (This was a db definition from the scratch, not based on smdemo) Regards, Christian
