Catalog groups are simple text files with .ctg extension, listing a number of catalog files or other catalog group files. Catalog groups can be selected to be opened as any other catalog file, and will at that time load all of the listed catalog files, in the same order as listed in the group file. You can use catalog groups to be able to load a predefined group of catalogs when you need them, if you have a lot of different catalog files, or for example catalogs that were broken apart due to being too large for comfortable use as a single file. Loading catalog group files is supported from the script language as well. 


You can create and edit catalog group files with any standard text editor, or you can take advantage of the built-in Catalog Groups Editor with some additional functionality like catalog preview. If using a standalone text editor, make sure that the first line of file contains the identifier [WhereIsIt Catalog Group File], as in the sample below. Any line starting with semi-column (;) is treated as comment and is ignored at the time of loading catalog group. Comment lines immediately following the header up to the first listed item are handled as a catalog group comment, and will be displayed as a description in the Open Catalog preview window.
