Splines2Arcs macro converts all splines in a sketch into (many) arcs that approximate the spline

Applications

Splines2Arcs is very useful when using tools like automatic cutters which don't support splines

Usage

  1. Download Splines2Arcs.swp
  2. Open a part and edit the sketch in which splines must be converted
  3. Use SW Tools/Macro/Run menu/bar to launch the macro

Release Notes

  • '2004/1/10 PhG v 1.0 by request of Arto Kvick on comp.cad.solidworks
  • 2004/1/11 PhG v 1.1 added tolerancing through tesselation points by request of Mike J. Wilson
  • 2004/1/12 PhG v 1.2 structured a bit and tried to add constraints

Planned improvements

  1. Constraint the arcs to the orginal spline. This is hard because:
    1. points cannot be constrained to splines
    2. fixing points and constraining arc tangency overconstrains the sketch
  2. UI, either simple or Property Manager based
