Hi all, I'm using E3-panel 2007-650, and have the following question: I've got two models, to be placed on top of eachother, consider it being a backplane on which a module is to be placed. I've configured a "mount" on the backplane, and a mating "slot point" on the module. This always works fine, but in this particular case the module is to rotate 90 degrees when it is dropped onto the backplane. Redrawing the module, so it does not have to be rotated is no option for other reasons. When dropping a new slot point onto the backplane-model, I get a menu where I can chose "Rotate", "Mirror" etc. However, it seems like those options do not have any effect at all. Does anyone know how to properly rotate a slot point? Thanks, Philip Eine Antwort auf diesen Beitrag verfassen (mit Zitat/Zitat des Beitrags) IP |

Hello Philip, you can rotate the module, if you select it, move and then press key "r". You can rotate 90°, but not 180° or 270°. If you want rotate back (0°) then press key "r" 3x.

Thanks Uwe. Your suggestion however does not work: Pressing "R" indeed rotates the device, but once it snaps onto the backplane, it rotates back to its original position. I've recorded a short video demonstrating it in E3, see attachment. Viewable by the regular windows media player. So I think the 'slot point' itself (onto which the device snaps) should be rotated. I've tried it with a 'slot line' instead of a 'slot point' which does cause the object to remain rotated which is good. But a line immediately implies that the device snaps onto a 2D-area, instead of just a point. And that won't work. Hello Philip, the 'slot point' must work. I also have a little video for you. At the first time placing, the modul rotate also automatic. If I place, take it back and rotate, the second time I can place the modul. ------------------ Gruß Uwe Eine Antwort auf diesen Beitrag verfassen (mit Zitat/Zitat des Beitrags) IP |

Thanks Rolf, I can view the clip now. Uwe, I see you manually rotate the green device before dropping it onto its 'holder'. Can you make it rotate when it drops onto its 'holder'? BTW, I know that can be done by using a slot-line instead of a slot-point, but a slot-line does not garantee an exact position (no matter how short you make the line). Guys, I've solved it. My issue was to have the device rotated automatically, instead of rotating manually during dragging. It's shown in attached clip. As I couldn't find a way to rotate a slot point , I've used slot lines (the direction in which the line is drawn determines the rotation behaviour of a device that mounts onto it). As lines unfortunately result in 'line-wide' snapping, I had to limit the 'placeble'-area by inserting additional restriction area's . Note the special shape of the area's: Trial and error revealed they can not be just a line, they need to have an area attached.
