i hope that martin2 can answer me or some else who can read this i have a problem ,i have created a mould with the help of volumes boleans operations
but i seem to be un able to machine this .now my question is is it possible to mill volumes? if answer is yes what do you need to do to make this possible?
because part of the mould is a substraction of volumes thickness the mould as the part are volumes because its from remove operations thanks in advance

Hi Klaasvaak!
Yes it's possible to mill volumes in V5. The way of proceeding is the same like you mill on faces.
Alternatively you also can change a volume-model to a surface-model. (Try "Extract") Or you can make some volume-model - based on a closed Surface-model. ("Join" then "Close Surface")
thanks martin but i tried and tried what you suggested with out any luck simply cannot select the other surfaces on one part not the rest its really frustrating have done ectract i have the surfaces simply cannot select them
Question: You are in your milling operation, then you want to select the surfaces. Do you make a LeftClick or a RightClick on the red Ranges?
well if i select not a certain machine work i can select everything selected part are orange then but when i selct the same area let say pocketing i cannot select certain parts any more but what i noticed is that the parts that i cannot select are curved up to the bottom like a wing if you know what i mean
it seems to me that catia cannot mill parts that are curved on the bottom wich seems to me a bit stupid i am still in roughing so i plan with tiny point to finish the curved bottom meaby this is a ¨problem also the machine is 2.5 d but it can handle this part and as soon as i come to a side that is not 90 degree or flat my tool cut straighten 90 to the surface wich is odd also this becuase i leave more the 2 mm too keep room for the finish milling
meaby you can help i am really stuck with this
(LeftClick - you can select parts / RightClick - you can select surfaces)

Hi again!
I'm not sure if I understood you, but: If you are using the Operation "Pocketing" the Bottom of your Pocket has to be plane. If the bottom is curved it doesn't work - that's normal. Then you have to finish the bottom with any other operation.
well i use roughing and i so strange results that i really ask me selve or there is not another problem
like i select the area you said in select faces it becomes red so its selected then i choose preview it says roughing parameters ok the i want to see the path its calculating somethime i got nothing next time i got a tiny bit totaly wrong is it possible you could look at the file and see whats wrong? i am really puzzled by this
also becuase once i had a good path then i wanted to do it again only rubish so do not know what is going on
