I am using ANSYS to model a cantilever beam with an elastic foundation. I was trying to correlate the information between my hand calculations and those generated by ANSYS. I derived the equations for a cantilever beam with a Winkler Foundation and modelled the same beam using elastic support in ANSYS. I find a difference in end displacements between that caluclate by ANSYS and my hand calculations. I tried searching for more theory about the elastic supoprt in ANSYS but could not find any. Could you please share any information on the same ?! I am particularly interested in seeing if the elastic support in ANSYS models a Winkler foundation or models a different elastic foundation.
