This document will describe some tools which are created to support users in customization and usage of CoCreate SolidDesigner. These tools are intented to run on systems where SolidDesigner had been installed.
This tool was developed to update the Windows NT Registry after the installation of SolidDesigner 2000 +. During the installation SolidDesigner will associate its filename extensions with the application so that a user has only to double-click onto the SolidDesigner file within the Windows NT explorer to start the application and initiate that the file is automatically loaded.
But SolidDesigner does not overwrite existing filename associations during the installation process.
The SolidDesigner Registry wizard allows to overwrite all filename extension definitions within the Registry which were not set during the installation or which were modified by any other application.
After you started the wizard by the executable sd_regwz.exe all available extensions are enabled by default. To see the current settings within your registry click onto the button View Current. This will open a new window that is seperated into two columns.
The left column shows the SolidDesigner extensions while the right column displays the currently defined applications which are associated to these filenames. To overwrite the existing values just select or deselect the offered extensions from the main window and click Set New to execute the operation. A warning will appear and inform you that you are overwriting the current Registry settings.
Once you executed the operation you can recall the tool to check the new settings.
In any cases it might be helpful to interrupt a longer SolidDesigner calculation e.g. if you specified a wrong parameter before executing the operation. Or you have to terminate a complete SolidDesigner session immediately.
The Process Handler will help you to perform this on Windows NT. It will grab all process IDs from the system and allows you to send a interrupt or terminate signal to the choosen SolidDesigner session.
Right after the startup of the executable sd_proc.exe the tool will scan the system for running SolidDesigner sessions and will display the found process IDs in the pulldown menu as highlighted on the left image. Select your process that you want to influence. Note the newer SolidDesigner sessions will have a higher process ID than sessions started before. Within the area Define Action you are able to select whether you want to stop a current SolidDesigner calculation or to terminate the session which process ID you have selected before. Click OK to execute the operation. No further warning will appear. |
If you want to run the tool in background you always can re-scan your system to find new SolidDesigner sessions. Below the menu option Tools you find the command Scan for Processes that can be used to get the new process IDs.
